The Human Resources Forum

The Human Resources Forum March Update:

DATE FOR YOUR DIARY: 9th–12th May Aurora

Dear [Firstname],

Welcome to the March issue of The Human Resources Forum E-Newsletter.

This month's newsletter will highlight research results, detailed information and a chance for us to learn more about you – our readers.

This month we focus on:

  • How our Delegates measure up? We look at the confirmed Delegates on board for 2007, examining various aspects that may be of interest to supplier companies.
  • Buying Intentions – a chance for us to tell you who you could potentially meet on board the forum this year.
  • Feedback section; you tell us your interests and thoughts on The Human Resources Forum and your business development plans for your company.
  • Last, but not least, words from a previous supplier: EASY FIGURES TO INTERPRET – Julian Wragg of GlobalEnglish doesn't require much persuasion when making the decision to attend The Human Resources Forum.

We hope you enjoy this month's e–newsletter. We look forward to hearing from you if there are any aspects of this e–newsletter or The Human Resources Forum you would like to discuss.

The Human Resources Forum 2007

Human Resources Forum Meeting

The Human Resources Forum is an event which gives suppliers the opportunity to build new relationships and affirm existing ones. It's also an event where you're likely to achieve more in three days than you usually do in three months!

"My third Human Resources Forum and it just gets better! Superbly organised & professionally managed event with senior HR decision makers trapped on a boat! Invaluable."

Julian Wragg, Account Director EMEA, GlobalEnglish Corporation

How do our Delegates measure up?

Human Resources Forum Meeting

Based on a sample of the first 180 delegates to confirm their attendance from an array of different sectors we can provide information on their answers to the following questions:

  • What is the number of employees in your organisation in the UK?
  • What is your position in your company?
  • What is your individual annual HR budget, excluding salaries in the UK?
  • Do you have a seat on the board?
  • Which 3 key HR issues will you be addressing over the next 12–18 months?
  • What are the 3 principal issues that your organisation will be addressing over the next 12–18 months?
  • What products/services are a current priority or general interest to you?

Each delegate who attends the forum completes a profiling questionnaire providing information to suppliers about their businesses, their aims and objectives in attending and detailed information about their buying intentions. Here is just a flavour of some of the data suppliers receive about each delegate prior to choosing who they wish to meet.

ARE YOU INTERESTED IN THE HUMAN RESOURCES FORUM?

EASY FIGURES TO INTERPRET

Julian Wragg of GlobalEnglish doesn't require much persuasion when making the decision to attend The Human Resources Forum.

The fact that the Human Resources Forum had an international dimension was a major attraction for GlobalEnglish, a leading provider of online English learning and support services for business communication.
Indeed, 40% of the delegates met at the 2006 event by Julian Wragg, the company's UK account director, were based in Continental Europe.
"We are a global organisation with offices in every major country" he explains. "We work with multi–national companies at a very senior HR level and the opportunity to meet 30 or 40 relevant people in three days as an exhibitor is unmatched by rival events.
"It's all about meeting people, assessing them and then making a mutual decision as to whether or not to move forwards together. Out of courtesy, I thanked everyone I met for their time, and in cases when they weren't the right person they often introduced me to someone who was."
Julian, who also represented GlobalEnglish at the 2005 Human Resources Forum, has already signed up for the 2007 event. He does not rule out increasing this booking to include a colleague.
If, as expected, the business sales from the 2006 Forum match the £360,000 achieved the previous year, it should not be hard for him to persuade his head of marketing to meet the additional cost involved with doing so!
24 formal half–hour one–to–one meetings have so far produced half a dozen onshore follow-up meetings, and a further half a dozen follow–ups have resulted from meal–times.
Speed–networking drew a blank this year, but a further follow&ndashup opportunity has resulted from sharing a couple of pints with a delegate in one of the bars on board.
But such ad–hoc occurrences were always going to be fewer for GlobalEnglish than for most other suppliers by virtue of the fact that it focuses on multi–nationals with over 10,000 employees.
"During my initial preparation I used the organiser's software tool to deselect any companies that had under 10,000 employees" explains Julian. "In total I spent two full days selecting and deselecting, and if I wasn't familiar with an organisation I would look at its website to check that it was the type we wanted to do business with.
"I had advised friends who attended the Forum for the first time this year to spend a lot of time on selection and deselection. After the event they got in contact to thank me!"
